SQRL Pilots Sweep 2024 World Championships!

Huge congrats to Luke Rogers, Jason Dodunski, and Ali Asker who shared the podium. Luke and Jason finished just one point from each other with Luke taking gold. Ali, at his second worlds event, was just 3 points behind the top 2!

SQRL pilots swept the the podium in every individual category!! Speed, Distance, and Time were all dominated by the CR+. In the overall, 9 out of the top 10 pilots flew the CR+.

In the team division, Australia won gold, USA took silver, with Poland taking bronze. The last Three World-level events have been full of controversy as manufacturers and individual pilots push wingsuit design within the constraints of sometimes ambiguous rules. 2024 saw the first-ever suit disqualification under the “no add-ons” clause. The judges’ decision was received with mixed feelings by the field, given that it was plainly not the only suit with an add-on. Our sympathies go to the affected pilot -- it would have been our preference to allow them to compete, especially given the results seen from previous events in that particular wingsuit. We’d be happy to sponsor a rematch, anytime.

As regulatory bodies struggle to find a balance between common sense and rule enforcement, we hope that the sport can move forward in a way that ensures innovation is not stifled but competition remains a level playing field.
