GLIDER
MISSION: DISTANCE

  • Monochamber design
  • Class-leading glide & start arc
  • Developed specifically for glide performance on long BASE lines
  • For experienced WS BASE jumpers only
  • Note: The Glider is not a versatile suit, it's a specific tool for a specific purpose!
DETAILS

The Glider was born from a challenge...

Yuri Kutsnetzov (BASE 416, 20 year history in WS BASE) asked us for the best glide, period. A series of no-holds-barred protos were made, ranging from "scary-huge" to "actually quite nice". Ultimately, we arrived at this -- a subtle variation on a known concept, which delivers reliable performance and surprising comfort.

This new suit uses core design tenets from our 3x World Championship winning competition line. Two major differences optimize it for BASE: Arm sweep, and inlet size.

It is larger than the Aura series and designed purely for the shortest starts and longest glides in the BASE environment. We are not planning to sell a lot of these, and that's fine. If you're trying to decide between this suit and the Aura, or the Corvid, then here's our advice:

  • The all-around do-everything suit for advanced WS BASE: AURA.
  • The easiest short-starts, and the most comfortable advanced suit: CORVID
  • All you care about is start-glide, and you want the biggest suit? Then... GLIDER.
FEATURES

BIG FAT INLETS

The GLIDER has super scoops. Built on the original industry-changing 3D inlet, these suckers have an impressive intake volume to drag ratio.

NEW SEAMLESS LEADING EDGE

Our proprietary leading edge Glide Skin now wraps more of the forward wing chord for reduced drag at the most critical section of the airfoil.

defaultImage

INTEGRATED PROFILE GRIPPER

Increases lifting surface without increasing the total surface area of the suit, while placing the pilot's hand in a more natural location. Result: Increased performance and comfort from the same amount of surface area – a “free” upgrade.

defaultImage

CUSTOM INTERNAL PRESSURE

All of our suits allow you to choose the amount of internal pressure in the arm wings. Choose from full pressure for maximum performance, or reduce it for easier maneuvering in acro / freestyle flight.

AIRFOIL CROSS SECTION

Designed for Performance or Freestyle, the removable airfoil cross section adds glide and speed performance and increases agility and range in any suit that it is added to. More information on leading edge foam.

LIGHT RIBS

Lightweight, durable, and more stable than mesh, Porcher Sport Skytex is renowned for its mechanical stability. Helps to reduce overall weight and pack volume.

EVOLV TRAX RUBBER BASE SOLE

Our custom molded TRAX Super Sticky BASE Sole was developed in cooperation with Evolv. The tread pattern is designed specifically for exit force traction. The rubber compound is sticky in all conditions: wet, dry, warm, and cold.

MASSIVE LEG WING POCKET

The new leg wing pocket is the full width of the end cell, has zip closure, and is ideal for the stowage of hiking poles, ropes, and other equipment.

AIRTIGHT CONSTRUCTION

All of our suits are built to the most exacting specifications, and tested for airtight symmetry in our production facility at multiple points along the construction process.

defaultImage

HOOK KNIFE

Our sturdy double-blade hook knife fits into a secure pocket on the front of the leg. It's light, strong, and easy to grab.

INNIE-OUTIE

Back by popular demand, the Innie-Outie system (introduced by SQRL in 2012) allows you to place your BASE harness inside the suit for reduced drag and increased comfort, or leave it outside for skydive training.

GLIDER REVIEW

"My first thought: So much power! Compared to my Corvid the suit feels pretty rigid, stiff, maybe because it is newer (my Corvid is worn out), maybe because it is designed like this? Exit and pressurization are very fast, it picks up speed quite well, but feels more "bulky" over the pitch/roll axes. My first thought after landing was just about the power, it feels big!"

"Ever since Jedei3 came out, there wasn't any real progress in development of BASE suits that would beat its combination of the best sustained glide with the fastest exits possible. These design goals kick-started the Glider project, and after countless prototypes it has finally reached a happy place. The last pre-production version that I have been flying lately in UAE and back home in Europe has pushed the good old trusty J3 into retirement. The Glider supersedes J3 "benchmark" in many aspects. It doesn't simply match and exceed its glide & exit performance, but behaves as a modern mountain suit. While not specifically designed for wasting altitude, The Glider will dive down a steep, nearly vertical line as stable and happy as my CR+: something J3 would never dream of. Think of it as Super-Corvid: if you are willing to handle the beast, you will reach the stars - or at the very least, open a gazillion new exit points your grandma wouldn't ever see without her glasses, and glide out to the landing zone that ain't in Kansas any more! A good number of the very technical new flights in Ras-Al-Khaima & Slovenia would still be outside of a comfort zone without this new toy."
